I've been busy beavering away on a ton of new music - 3 albums worth in fact, around 50 tracks!

My albums as ever will be affordable music asset packs designed to give developers a superb soundtrack on a tight budget. The themes of my next 3 packs will be:

  • Fallen Kingdom - Emotional Fantasy music
  • Velocity X - Futuristic racer rave music
  • Joyland - Cute happy platformer music

I'm really pleased with how they are shaping up and cannot wait to share some tracks with you. Watch this space!

I also took part in the recent Pirate Software 15 Game Jam. The theme was "Shadows & Alchemy", so we decided to make a vampire game where you had to stay in the shadows to survive, and mix victims blood to make potions.

I did all of the pixel art and animation in this game and we placed in the top 10%. Not bad for our first game jam as a team!

If you fancy playing it, you can do so here:

So I've been a little quiet, but with good reason! After talking about it for ages with two of my friends, we have finally decided to make a full game!

Having found some success in a game jam, we are taking this idea and further developing it.

I will be heading the pixel art and animation of the game. Pixel art is something I've never seriously taken on before, and in the short time I've been doing it properly I've found it to be an amazing new hobby.

We've given ourselves 3 years to finish the game. At the very least, we want to come away from it having massively levelled up our skills. We're building the whole thing in the Godot engine. It's a great little engine, especially for 2D games.

I won't reveal too much about the game as it's very early days, but below are my early experiments. I'm going to try and track my progress here on Newgrounds!

I'm also delighted that I got my first ever art frontpage with my coral reef experiment! I'm currently using it as a background to experiment with lighting, bubble animations, and fish animations.

One thing I would say is I now have an even greater respect for the people who do this kinda work all the time.

Any watch this space!

It's been so fun making the site. We're currently ironing out the alignment gremlins on the mobile version, but outside of that I'm delighted with how it's turned out.

Do have a look if you fancy! http://wobwobrob.com

Also, I've just noticed I've pass 200 fans! Thank you all so much. I love sharing my music with you all.

Introducing Café Cozy, my fourth album and my third this year!

It's been a wonderful challenge sitting down and trying to create such a varied collection of albums and genres. It's so fun to give yourself a limiter like this to really focus your creativity. The thing that sparks for me is that they could potentially help other people with their projects as well. I highly recommend it!

Devs - you can buy the asset pack here!

If you'd like to buy the music for listening, head here!

Your support means the world, thank you so much :)

Thanks for listening!

Action City is my latest album and music pack! It's really fun making these :)

As mentioned before, I am aiming to make 100 of these, which is about 34 hours of music!

Really pleased with the artwork. I think 100 of these will look cool in all the stores I'm uploading them to, namely Itch.io, GameDevMarket, Unreal and Unity. I'm also selling the music on Bandcamp. I'll also be streaming on Spotify

This is a very ambitious experiment to see whether a creator can get by on the strength of their assets. I'm very much learning on the job, and hoping to share what I learn. I'll keep you all posted!

In the meantime, you can help me by following me on any of these platforms. If you want to buy a pack - even better!

I also need ideas for new packs. If you have a game that you need music for, let me know as this could potentially provide you with a lot of music!

Yesterday I uploaded my 50th audio submission on Newgrounds, and it feels really freaking satisfying!

In 2019 I started being active on Newgrounds as a way of developing good habits in the quest of becoming a full time game music composer. When I started a couple of years prior, I had never produced music on my own before having only been in bands, so thought this would be a great place to network and create a living diary of my progress.

I remember uploading my first track with nerves and great optimism. I was so proud of my work and was ready to start sharing. I look back on it now and there are hundreds of things I would do differently!

Here are some factoids for the last 4 years:

  • Been front paged 24 times
  • 618 forum posts
  • 145 fans 💕
  • Came runner up in an AIM contest
  • Been a judge for 3 contests
  • Appeared on 2 NG podcasts
  • Made music for 3 streamers
  • Scored my first major game released on consoles
  • Scored 10+ other games
  • Weirdly, uploaded 7 pieces of art!
  • Released 2 music asset packs
  • And............quit my job and became a full time game audio designer!

I love Newgrounds because it's given me a space to really express myself, find my niche and find my voice. I know it's the wild west on here sometimes but on the whole the community is so supportive, generous with their constructive feedback (and not so constructive sometimes!) and above all just really fun people.

Mainly, it's so inspiring hearing so many interesting styles and all levels of accomplishment, whether it be AAA game, blockbuster movie or EDM legend quality, of even if it's just rough, raw and ready, seeing so many active and prolific creators is usually all I need to get locked into my own creative process.

Long live Newgrounds, long love the collaborations, and I hope you all get to enjoy my next 50 tracks!

Helloo one and all!

Couple of fun things to announce.

First off, my first 2 music asset packs are available to buy! You can head to my ITCH.IO PAGE, where a follow would be hugely appreciated, and a purchase even more so! Have a listen below. These are the first of 100 PACKS I intend to create. All to a high quality, all in a variety of niche and not-so-niche genres. I'm really challenging myself to see if I can unlock passive income from my unused music. At the very least, it's fun being prolific and getting stuck in!

Watch this space for sneak peaks at packs, as the initial tracks from packs will often appear on Newgrounds first!

Secondly, I am delighted to have been invited back as a judge for Newgrounds Underdog Audio Contest 2023!

I had a blast judging last time, and I can't wait to listen to hours of hot tunes again!

Again, my judging style will lean towards the creative and raw stuff. I will still score beautifully mixed and mastered work high, but I will sit up and take notice when an amazing idea is presented.

That's all for now! Have a TOP weekend (●'◡'●)

Hello one and all!

I've been busily being busy and have lots to share!

My first Sunshine Days OST is now complete and will be released on Wednesday 31st May. I'm hugely proud of it! Newgrounders will have heard some tracks already, but the whole thing will be available to stream on Spotify and Soundcloud, and available to download for free on Bandcamp.

The good folks at Netspeak Games are even doing a limited run of 200 vinyls! Hugely exciting and a first for me! Our art team designed the most incredible sleeve for it as well.

If you'd like to give the game a spin yourselves, it's free on mobile. CHECK OUT SUNSHINE DAYS 🥳

Outside of "work", I am also nearly ready to release my first run of affordable music asset packs for developers. The idea is 10 loopable tracks of music that are ready to put in your game for $10. The aim is to make them HIGH QUALITY at a LOW PRICE, so you can elevate your game without having to pay the usual rates (of course if you need to hire an audio designer, you still can at my usual rates :P)

There will be 5 packs available to start, but eventually there will over 100! More details to follow soon.

Anyway that's my little check-in. Keep on creating in the free world people!

ROB 🎵

Hello all!

Firstly, thanks for getting me over that 100 followers mark! It's a lovely feeling that the stuff one creates is connecting with people, even if it is just my mundane contributions to the forums 😂

Second piece of news is I will be one of the judges in this years NGUAC. I was delighted to be asked! I know how much work goes into running a contest, so to be able to help out in my own way is very cool indeed.

I'm still tinkering with my own personal review and scoring guidelines, but I think my best scores will head to the composers that create clear emotional reactions within me, whether it be a deep satisfaction, being moved by the beauty of a track, or even making me spit out tea and yell "WTF was that?"

Make sure you get your submissions in by 20th July. There's already loads to listen to, but keep them coming. The harder our jobs are, the better!

Happy listening

ROB

Hello Earthlings!

I've been a very busy chap outside of Newgrounds life, but I have found enough time to get my entries in for this years Art Inspired music contest!

Here they are:

This is my favourite contest as it links talented artists with us audio lot! Do make sure you check out all the entries. I already have my favourites, but no doubt there will be some gems that arrive just before the deadline so I'll be keeping my ears peeled.

Thanks for reading/listening/existing!
